about

Second album of side-project A Z I M O G U ("treatments in sounds").
'opians' will be a series of experiments where the main focus is the piano. Mostly it will be improvisations but with, sometimes extremely, editing after the recording. This means extra layers of sounds and hopefully it will take the track to another dimension! ;)

A short description of each track:
opian#3 - a +21 minute track with short atonal phrases and longer tones and chords. In the background you can hear the processed sound of a cooling system. Inspiration comes from Morton Feldman's and John Cage's concepts of music as well as ambient and field recording artist, like Tetsu Inoue.
opian#1 - Towards the end the sound of the piano is stripped. This is the 'new wave version', just because it sounds funny to me.
opian#2 - the sound of the piano is enriched with several layers to create a more deep, but also distant sound. Playing in a more rhythmic and maybe even melodic way. The title 'dark matter version' can also give you some more imagination.
opian#4 - subtitled 'dysfunctional version', this is a long, bizarre and disturbing piece that's supposed to be unsettling and leave you confused and at unease.. at least after about 8 minutes, if you make it that far, there's some kind of comfort.. maybe I've watched to many horror movies...
